Star wideout Davante Adams already had two First-Team All-Pro honors on his resume before he joined the Las Vegas Raiders. However, it turns out the one Adams ended up receiving as a member of the Raiders in 2022 meant a lot more for him.

In a recent interview with The Ringer, Adams said that the All-Pro selection with the Raiders proves he doesn’t need former Green Bay Packers’ teammate Aaron Rodgers as his quarterback to be great.  Catching balls from Derek Carr last season, Adams still had 100 catches for 1,516 yards and a league-leading 14 touchdowns.

“A quarterback doesn’t make me. … I make me. And I can do it consistently at this level,” Adams said.

Adams played the first eight seasons of his NFL career with the Packers and established himself as one of the best wideouts in the league. Still, many attributed his greatness to the fact that he was playing with a generational talent at the quarterback position in Rodgers.

After proving this isn’t the case, Adams wants everyone to acknowledge it.

“You can erase all the numbers. You can just write in: He didn’t need Aaron Rodgers,” Adams added.

Davante Adams will now have a chance to prove that he doesn’t even need Carr to be an All-Pro receiver. The Raiders released Carr in the offseason and signed ex-New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo to be their starter in 2023.
