With one week away before the start of the new Serie A season, teams are finalizing their rosters by signing new players every day. AS Roma managed to secure the loan deal for Chelsea’s right-back Davide Zappacosta for the next six months, with an option to extend the move until the end of the season. Zappacosta is not included in the plans by the new Chelsea coach Frank Lampard and has decided to spend this season in his home country.

Davide began his career in Atalanta, where he played on two occasions (2011-2012 and 2014-2015) before being sent to Avellino on loan for a year. In July of 2015, Zappacosta was sold to Torino for a total of €10 million along with Daniele Baselli.

In August of 2017, Zappacosta left Torino and signed a 4-year contract with Premier League team Chelsea for a fee of $29 million. The transfer was completed a day before the deadline period. Zappacosta made only 26 caps in 2 seasons at Stamford Bridge, losing his place in the team by fellow Italian Emerson.

He is expected to make his debut on Day 1 as Roma faces Genoa this weekend.
