The fate and future of David de Gea was rumored and speculated about for over a year with many different possibilities being discussed. The legendary goalkeeper had been negotiating with his current team for a pretty long time and United was really keen on keeping him. However, his salary requests were a source of disagreement which prolonged the negotiations.

Finally, we can know what the future is of one of the greatest United players of all time. It was reported that de Gea will be signing a six-year-long contract with Manchester United, coming at a fee of an unbelievable $146.2 million. The 28-year-old goalkeeper will be earning around $468,000 per week which will make him one of the highest-paid goalkeepers of all time. This will be an enormous increase to his current weekly paycheck which brings him around $250,000. He has only one year to go on his current contract which expires in 2020.

During the previous six years, David De Gea was the club’s Player of the Year which speaks volumes about his qualities especially considering his competition in a team as grand as Manchester United.
