Atletico Madrid and Arsenal will have to wait because the Argentinian defense player Nicolas Tagliafico decided to stay in the Dutch Ajax. The high back was part of transfer talks for the summer window, but contrary to expectations he will not be leaving the Netherlands.

On Ajax’s official Twitter account, Tagliafico said that he will be staying with the team for one more season and that he hoped for a great year just like this. We will see if he remains loyal to the Argentinian contract that ties him until the summer of 2022 but for now, we’re sure that he will be part of the Eredivisie champions for another year.

Nicolas Tagliafico had a great season, he scored eight assists and six goals for Ajax and his accomplishments helped the team in their pursuit of the Dutch and European title. Leading figures in Amsterdam welcomed his contract signing to stay for the 2019 – 2020 season. Director of football affairs Marc Overmars said on the club’s website that Tagliafico’s decision to stay was a good signal to the group. While it is unlikely that Tagliafico will stay in Ajax in the future as the offers are bound to come flying in, he will be remaining for now.
