In a surprise move, the Baltimore Ravens claimed wide receiver Sammy Watkins off waivers after being waved by the Green Bay Packers a day earlier. This comes after the Ravens placed starter Devin Duvernay on injured reserve after he was injured in practice on Tuesday morning.

Waived after failing to make a catch in his last three games, Watkins will be called upon to turn around the Ravens’ offensive performance as they gear up for the playoffs. The Ravens currently have the sixth-worst passing attack in the league and have failed to score a touchdown in the last seven quarters they have played in.

This will be Watkins’ second stint in Baltimore. During his time with the Ravens last season, Watkins made 27 receptions and received 394 yards, both of which were career lows.

Aside from Duvernay, Baltimore is also missing quarterback Lamar Jackson, who missed his seventh consecutive practice on Tuesday due to a knee injury. As a result, the Ravens are expected to select backup Tyler Huntley, who would make his third start of the season.
