The Los Angeles Dodgers have made the decision to call up top pitching prospect Dustin May this weekend, giving him his first ever appearance in the Major Leagues.

The team with the Major Leagues’ best record will bring up May in order to cover the absence of starting pitchers Rich Hill and Ross Stripling, who had been LA’s fifth starters this season. It’s yet another talented piece for a team that looks to be co-World Series favorites this October.

May is known for an upper-90s fastball as well as a devastating slider that he uses to strike out hitters. Despite being only 21 years old, LA made the decision to send him to AAA Oklahoma City earlier this season after posting a 3.74 ERA in 15 starts at AA.

May has been even better since making the move up, starting 5 games in AAA and posting a minuscule 2.30 ERA, while not allowing a single home run.

This move will allow May to gain some experience with the big league team and also allow the Dodgers to evaluate how he might be able to help them during the team’s playoff run.

“Ginger Thor” will look to leave his mark and become a staff mainstay for the juggernaut Dodgers in his first call up.
