Miami Dolphins’ offense will be without a major piece in the coming weeks. According to Dolphins head coach Brian Flores, their wideout Preston Williams is dealing with a foot injury and will be placed on injured reserve.

Williams got hurt in Sunday’s 34-31 win over Arizona Cardinals during a touchdown catch. He will be out for at least three weeks, although there is a possibility Miami extend that timetable as the tests revealed a more serious injury.

This represents a tough blow for the Dolphins, considering that Williams leads the team in touchdown catches with four. He also 18 catches and 288 receiving yards for the season while averaging an impressive 16.0 yards per catch.

“We ran some tests. It’s a little bit more significant than we initially thought,” said Flores. “It’s a big loss. Preston has made a lot of plays for us over the first half of the season.”

Miami has several options that they can turn to in Williams’ absence. Veterans Jakeem Grant and Mack Hollins could see an increased role, while rookies Lynn Bowden Jr and Malcolm Perry are expected to get their shot as well.

Dolphins also have Antonio Callaway, a fourth-round pick from 2018, waiting on his turn on the practice squad. While Callaway hasn’t been in the league for more than a year, he is still an interesting option considering his impressive rookie season with Cleveland Browns when he had 43 catches for 586 yards and five TDs.
