Tottenham was defeated by Ajax 0-1 in the Champions League semi-finals on Tuesday. The deadlock was broken by Donny van de Beek just fifteen minutes after the start of the match. Sadly Ajax did not manage to keep the possession later during the game.

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino changed the formation and the strategy and they became a bit more effective but it did not change the final outcome. The tactic of coach Pochettino was keeping five at the back, which was taken advantage by the Dutch. Ajax easily and precisely passed around the ball to which Tottenham did not have the proper answer.

Also, Pochettino had to change the formation towards the end of the first half because Jan Vertonghen got injured. The coach substituted the Belgian with Moussa Sissoko. It was noticeable that the team was also weakened by the absence of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son and Pochettino struggled in vain to equalize the score. Christian Eriksen wasn’t afraid to criticize his team’s play saying that they made it easier for Ajax.

Ajax have proved their capabilities once more, and they are one step closer to the final.
