Borussia Dortmund striker Sebastian Haller will undergo further surgery in an effort to eradicate a testicular tumor. Haller first discovered the tumor while away at a training camp in July.

“As planned from the beginning, different possibilities were considered following the chemo. I tell you that the fight is not over for me,” Haller said. “I will have to undergo an operation to permanently end this tumor which keeps me away from the pitch.”

Since discovering his tumor, the 28-year-old striker has been sidelined from football. He has been undergoing chemotherapy in the months following as part of his treatment plan.

Haller arrived at Dortmund during the summer transfer window, with the Bundesliga team paying a fee of €31 million to Eredivisie side Ajax for the Ivory Coast star.

According to Haller, this surgery should assist him to return to the pitch. The striker delivered a stellar performance with Ajax last season, scoring 34 goals in all competitions, including 21 in the Eredivisie and 11 in the Champions League.
