After much deliberation, key defensive star Dwight Howard has confirmed that he will play for the Los Angeles Lakers when the season resumes. This news comes after weeks of uncertainty regarding whether or not Howard would participate in the NBA restart.

Much like fellow Lakers’ players Kyrie Irving and Avery Bradley, Howard remained doubtful over his availability to participate due to the ongoing nationwide protests concerning social justice reform. Also, Howard was still dealing with the loss of the mother of his six-year-old son.

Fortunately for the Lakers, Howard would not follow the decision-making process of his teammates, as he went on to explain, “I feel like we have a great opportunity, the Lakers do, to win the title this year. I have a contractual obligation to my teammates, to my fans, the Lakers, the organization and everyone. But at the same time, I also have an obligation to my family and my community. Yes, I will be joining my team in Orlando, but during that time, we will begin a lot of work here in Atlanta and around the nation as far as making sure people don’t forget about us and what’s going on in our communities.”
