The Philadelphia Eagles have decided to place Miles Sanders on their injured reserve ahead of Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions. Jordan Howard has been brought in from the practice squad to take his place in the team.

During the Eagles’ 22-33 loss against the Las Vegas Raiders last Sunday, Sanders injured his ankle during the first quarter. He subsequently came off the field and sat out the rest of the match.

Howard participated with the starters during practice throughout the week and is expected to be part of the rotation alongside Kenny Gainwell and Boston Scott. Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni expressed great confidence in the 26-year-old ahead of the Lions game.

“I just see a guy that comes to work every day and does his job every day and prepares our defense”, Sirianni explained, “And that’s what pros do. They come to work every day and they do what’s required of them and even more because he’s continuing to work even more out there. They’re ready when their number is called.”

Other players that will join Howard in the squad for Sunday’s game include safety K’Von Wallace, who was removed from injured reserve, and tight end Richard Rodgers, who has been promoted to the starters from the practice squad.
