Veteran defensive end Vinny Curry will be back with Philadelphia Eagles for 2020 NFL season. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Friday that Eagles resigned Curry to a one-year deal.

Curry was out of contract in March after he complied career-high 5.0 sacks with 27 tackles in 2019 with Eagles. Both sides expressed interest in a reunion in recent months and have now managed to get a deal done in time for the 32-year-old DE to take part in the team’s training camp.

Curry’s new deal is reportedly worth up to $2 million. He will receive a fully-guaranteed base salary of $1.3 million while the rest $700k will be available through bonuses and incentives.

Bringing Curry back represents a great deal for Eagles. They boosted their depth on the defensive front, while also getting a reliable player who can be impactful in important moments. Another plus is that Curry knows the defense inside and out and will be able to step in and play a more meaningful role in case of injuries.

Vinny Curry spent almost his entire career with Eagles, who took him 59th overall in 2012. His only season away from Philly was 2018, which he spent with Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
