San Jose Earthquakes might lose a reliable member of their starting lineup this summer. According to multiple reports, Quakes’ winger Magnus Eriksson is close to agreeing on a transfer to native Sweden.

Swedish outlet SportExpressen reported on Wednesday that Eriksson is currently negotiating a deal with Allsvenskan side Djurgardens. The 30-year-old player previously spent two seasons with the club before departing for San Jose in 2018.

Djurgardens are hoping to sign former Sweden international as soon as possible, wanting to have him on the roster before the start of the new Allsvenskan season. However, if they are unable to come to an agreement with Earthquakes, they will finalize the move following the end of the 2020 MLS season when Eriksson is set to become a free agent.

Since joining San Jose as a Designated Player three years ago, Magnus Eriksson made 66 starts for the club in Major League Soccer and managed to 13 goals alongside 14 assists. He played all five games this season, managing to get on the score sheet once.

Eriksson spent the major part of his earlier career in Sweden, playing with Vasby United, Malmo, and Djurgardens, among other clubs. He also had short stints in Belgium with Gent and in China, where he played with Guizhou Renhe.
