Eddie Hearn has said that the long-awaited fight between Amir Khan and Kell Brook is likely to take place in 2019 as both men are chasing titles in their respective divisions.

Brook and Khan have had a fierce rivalry for many years, however, organizing a fight will be difficult. Their popularity has declined due to their defeats. Brook lost popularity following his defeats against Errol Spence Jr. and Gennady Golovkin while Khan lost popularity following his T.K.O defeat against Canelo Alvarez in May 2016 before he came back this year and quickly defeated Phil Lo Greco.

Furthermore, both men are in different weight divisions. The 31-year-old Khan only wants to fight at 147 while Brook fights at 154.

Brook competed at 147 last year and did not do well as he went on to be defeated against Errol Spence Jr. via 11th round knockout.

It is likely that Khan is going to want a title shot and aim to fight the winner of the July 15 bout between WBA World welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse and Manny Pacquiao.
