Real Madrid was dealt a tough blow just before their Saturday La Liga opener against Celta Vigo after learning that superstar signing Eden Hazard will miss the beginning of the season after suffering a hamstring injury.

Hazard apparently picked up the injury in a training session before Los Blancos’ trip to Vigo for their La Liga opener. While the team hasn’t provided specifics about how long the star midfielder/winger will miss, most publications have estimated that he could miss Real Madrid’s first four matches of the season.

The Belgian star was signed on a $111 million transfer from Chelsea during the summer.

This is the last news that Real Madrid and coach Zinedine Zidane wanted to hear after a rough preseason that was also spoiled by injuries. Real Madrid won only two of their seven preseason matches and lost key players such as Marco Asensio and Ferland Mendy due to various physical problems.

Now, with arguably the best player on the team out for Real Madrid’s opening stretch of the 2019-20 La Liga campaign, Real Madrid has more questions than answers as they look to improve on a third place finish last year.

Zidane and Los Blancos will cross their fingers and hope that Hazard will be able to make his return to the field sooner rather than later.
