Despite all the rumors surrounding Eli Manning’s future with the New York Giants, it seems like he will remain the team’s starting QB in 2019. Giants’ coach Pat Shurmur recently talked about Manning and said that the 38-year-old can help the team win games and will remain a starter.

“Well, I think Eli can help us win games,” – said Shurmur. “He proved, when the players around him started playing better, that he can play at a very high level and help us win games.”

“Yeah, at this point, I want Eli back, and he’s back,” – he added.

After Eli Manning’s performance dropped down in the recent years, many thought that the New York Giants will turn to other options and will draft a quarterback in this year’s draft. After Shurmur’s comments, however, it seems like the organization doesn’t think QBs from the 2019 class are worthy of a No.6 pick and have decided to address some of their other needs. Still, that doesn’t mean Giants won’t do their research.

“We evaluate all the quarterbacks every year, regardless of whether it’s perceived we might be looking for one,” – explained Shurmur.

Looking at raw numbers, Eli Manning didn’t have such a disastrous season as many would think. He completed 66.0 percent of his passes while throwing for 4,299 yards and 21 touchdowns. Still, these numbers didn’t translate to wins, as the Giants finished last in NFC East with 5-11 record.
