With his release clause of $87 million kicking in next summer, there’s a good chance that Borussia Dortmund’s star striker Erling Haaland plays in a different jersey in the 2022-23 season. However, any club that decides to sign him will have to make a significant financial commitment.

According to a recent report from ESPN, Haaland already revealed his demands to clubs that might be interested in signing him. One of those demands is a hefty weekly salary that needs to be reportedly in the $690K (£500K) range. This would amount to $41 million a year.

It is clear that few clubs have the financial power to make this commitment. But those that do would likely go even further than that if that would land them Haaland. The list reportedly includes Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea, La Liga giants Real Madrid, and Ligue 1 powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain.

Despite just turning 21 in July, Erling Haaland is already considered one of the best strikers in the world. He has been a goalscoring machine wherever he went while also finding other ways to contribute while on the field. Since arriving in Dortmund midway through the 2019-20 season, Haaland scored 70 goals and had 19 assists in just 69 games. He previously scored 29 goals in 27 appearances for Red Bull Salzburg.
