Manchester City continued their quest to win a third-straight Premier League title on Saturday with a dominant 4-1 away win against relegation-threatened Bournemouth. They are now only two points behind the league leader Arsenal, compared to eight points lead that the London club had in January.

City scored three goals in the first half to set themselves up for a comfortable second period, including a strike from star striker Erling Haaland. This was Haaland’s 27th goal in Premier League this season, which is the most by any Man City player in a single season in club history. The previous record was set by club legend Sergio Aguero during the 2014–15 campaign.

The impressive thing about Haaland’s record is that he only needed 24 games to achieve it. For comparison, Aguero scored 26 goals while playing 33 games.

“His impact has been incredible,” City manager Pep Guardiola said of Haaland. “We love him, and he’s making a lot of goals.”

Erling Haaland joined Manchester City in the summer in a €60 million transfer from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund. Since then, the 22-year-old Norwegian has been on a tear, scoring 33 goals in 33 games in all competitions while adding four assists.
