Colombian attacking midfielder James Rodriguez could soon see his nightmare at Real Madrid come to an end. According to multiple reports from Europe, Rodriguez is a subject of $40 million bid from Premier League side Everton.

Reportedly, Everton’s manager Carlo Ancelotti is a big fan of Rodriguez and is pushing for the move. Ancelotti already coached the 29-year-old player while he was with Real during the 2014/15 season and attempted to acquire him while serving as the boss of Seria A side Napoli.

Rodriguez is considered out of favor in Spain, having spent the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons at loan with Bayern Munich. He remained at Real during this past season but ended up only making 14 appearances in all competitions.

While several other teams have interest in Rodriguez, including MLS side Inter Miami, Everton is considered a front runner for his services as the player himself previously hinted he would like to play in Premier League.

“I’ve already been in several good leagues and the only thing missing is Serie A and the Premier League, you have to see where I want to go or where they want me to go,” said Rodriguez earlier this month. “Going to England would be a good thing, it’s a top league.”

James Rodriguez joined Real Madrid in 2014 after a stellar campaign with Colombia during the World Cup. However, Rodriguez failed to meet the big expectations laid before him and will leave Santiago Bernabeu, having played only 135 games in six years.
