Ex-Barcelona Legend Xavi Hernandez Announces His Retirement

Ex-Barcelona midfielder Xavier Hernandez Creus, also known as Xavi, is playing his last season before his retirement.

Xavi, who is currently 39 years old, plays for the club Al Sadd SC from Qatar. While he was with Barcelona he won four Champions League trophies and eight La Liga titles. He also was a part of the team that won the 2010 World Cup. Now after retiring he announced that he’s planning to become a coach and he said he was excited to see what the future has in store for him. He also said that what he had achieved in the last two decades of his career had been a privilege.

He joined Qatari Al Sadd in 2015 on a three-year contract after scoring 13 goals in 133 appearances for Spain and leaving Barcelona. After this season, he will continue to work with the Qatari program “Generation Amazing”.

Xavier also said that in the next few weeks he will tie his shoes to play the last matches of his unforgettable run which has lasted for 21 years, making him a legend throughout the whole world.
