Former the Cincinnati Bengals quarterback AJ McCarron will continue his football journey in the newly-formed United Football League. McCarron was unveiled on Friday as the new member of the UFL team, St. Louis Battlehawks.

McCarron spent the majority of the 2023 NFL season on the Bengals’ practice squad. He appeared in two regular-season games, completing four of five pass attempts and throwing for 19 yards.

AJ McCarron already played with the Battlehawks in 2023 while the team competed in the XFL spring football league. He started nine games, throwing for 2,150 yards, 24 touchdowns, and six interceptions. He led XFL in several passing categories and won the MVP honors.

McCarron was a fifth-round pick by the Bengals in 2014 out of Alabama. He spent five years with the franchise, serving in a backup role, before embarking on stints with the Raiders, Houston Texans, and the Atlanta Falcons. He returned to the Bengals at the start of the 2023 campaign following his time with the Battlehawks.

XFL folded after the 2023 season and merged with the United States Football League (USFL) to create the UFL. Four teams from XFL, including Battlehawks, and four teams from USFL will be part of the newly-formed league. UFL is set to kick off on March 30 and play a 10-week season.
