The Kansas City Chiefs made an intriguing addition to their quarterback position on Tuesday, signing former Washington State Cougars signal-caller Anthony Gordon.

Gordon was undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft and didn’t manage to find the team despite spending the offseason with the Seattle Seahawks.

According to reports, Gordon inked a reserve/future deal. The move represents a good pickup for the Chiefs, who are still in the process of finding a long-term backup for superstar QB Patrick Mahomes.

Although Anthony Gordon didn’t get much attention from NFL teams, there is no doubt that he has a significant upside and could flourish in Kansas City. He is in play for the third-string position, considering Matt Moore is set to become a free agent in March.

In 2019, his lone year as a starter in college, Gordon put up some impressive numbers. This included completing 71.6 percent of his passes and throwing for 5,579 yards. Also, his 48 touchdowns in the season were second-most in the entire country. The only QB who topped that mark was LSU’s Joe Burrow, who ended up becoming the No. 1 pick in last year’s NFL Draft.
