Premier League side Crystal Palace is on the market for a new manager after parting ways with Patrick Vieira. The South London made the move following a 1-0 loss to Brighton on Wednesday.

The club’s ownership decided to promote Under-21 coach Paddy McCarthy to serve as an interim manager for the upcoming game against Arsenal. The search for Vieira’s permanent replacement is expected to take place during the upcoming international break.

Palace remained at the No.12 in the Premier League standings despite a loss to Brighton, but it is in real danger to get dragged into the relegation battle. The club is only three points clear from West Ham United and Bournemouth, who are at No. 18 and No. 19, respectively.

“It is with enormous regret that this difficult decision has been made, “said Palace chairman Steve Parish. “Ultimately, results in recent months have placed us in a precarious league position, and we felt a change is necessary to give us the best chance of retaining Premier League status. “

Patrick Vieira, who previously coached MLS side New York City FC and Ligue 1 club Nice, was hired as Crystal Palace’s manager ahead of the 2021-22 season. The club finished the campaign in 12th place league while also managing to reach the FA Cup semis. Vieira has compiled a 22-25-27 managerial record during his time with Palace.
