With their secondary ravaged by injuries, Seattle Seahawks turned to the free-agent market for help. According to multiple reports, Seattle signed former Green Bay Packers safety/corner Damarious Randall to their practice squad.

Randall started the season with Las Vegas Riders but didn’t make it to Week 1, being released by the team during final roster cuts.

Besides signing Randall, Seahawks made several other moves that should address their issues on defense. This includes promoting third-year defensive back Ryan Neal to the active roster and also adding outside linebacker Tim Williams to their practice squad.

On the cornerback side, Seahawks’ are currently without starter Quinton Dunbar and his backup Neiko Thorpe, who both missed the last week’s win over Dallas Cowboys. When it comes to safeties, Pro Bowler Jamal Adams is dealing with a groin strain while his backup Lano Hill has hip issues.

One of the reasons why picking up Damarious Randall could turn out great for Seattle is the fact that the 28-year-old player can successfully play multiple positions in secondary. Randall, who was the first-round pick in 2015, spent his first two years in the league as the right corner, before switching to the left in 2017. When he signed with Cleveland Browns in 2017, he was moved to strong safety while also lining up as free safety the year after.

Randall’s NFL career stats include 65 games in which he collected 290 tackles, 47 passes defended, 2.5 sacks, 14 interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns.
