After not being able to land a job in NFL for the 2020 NFL season, veteran running back C.J. Anderson decided to stop trying. Instead, Anderson, who turned 29 in February, decided to retire from the NFL.

Anderson confirmed his decision late last week in a chat with Denver Broncos’ official website. He will now turn to coaching and already has an opportunity to start his post-playing career on a high school level.

“I was on the fence, but I see helping some of these high school kids, giving them fundamentals, giving them technique, really making an impact on them off who I was,” said Anderson. “I was happy every day, and then the decision became that much easier.”

C.J. Anderson entered the league in 2013 as an undrafted free agent, signing with Broncos. He quickly developed in a solid contributor for Denver, managing to land a Pro Bowl appearance in 2014. In 2015, Anderson helped the organization win a Vince Lombardi trophy, generating 100 yards of offense in Super Bowl 50 and scoring a touchdown.

Anderson left Denver in 2017 and later played with Carolina Panthers, Oakland Raiders, Los Angeles Rams, and Detroit Lions. He has 3,497 career rushing yards and 22 rushing touchdowns in the regular season.
