After spending 15 years playing all across Europe, Brazilian striker Robinho decided to return home. Robinho, who starred for Real Madrid and Manchester City among other high-profile clubs, rejoined his boyhood club Santos over the weekend.

Robinho signed as a free agent, taking a minimum wage in order to help the club through a financial crisis. The 36-year-old player last played in Turkey with Istanbul Basaksehir, winning the 2019/20 Süper Lig title with the club.

“This has always been my home, it’s so special to come back here where my career began,” said Robinho after inking the deal.

This will be Robinho’s fourth stint with Santos. He spent his youth career with the club, making his debut in 2002 and scoring 81 goals in 180 matches before securing a transfer to Real Madrid in 2005.

Robinho then returned to the club on two more occasions on loan stints. The first was in 2010, when he was with Manchester City, while the second one came in 2014 when he was playing for AC Milan in Seria A.

In his past spells with Santos, Robinho won five major trophies including one Copa do Brasil, two Campeonato Brasileiro Série A titles and two Campeonato Paulistas.
