Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel won’t spend the 2024 season out of the NFL after all. NFL Network’s insider Ian Rapoport reports that Vrabel has joined the Cleveland Browns to serve as a coaching and personnel consultant.

According to Rapoport, Vrabel had already been working for the Browns for a while, being part of their team at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis.

Vrabel spent the past six years as the Titans’ head coach. During that time, he compiled a 54- 45 record while leading the franchise to two AFC South titles and three playoff appearances. His biggest success came in 2019 when the Titans made the AFC Championship Game.

Despite being viewed as one of the top coaches in the league, Vrabel, who was Coach of the Year in 2021, was fired by the Titans following two straight losing seasons. He was mentioned as a candidate for several head coaching vacancies since then, interviewing with the Atlanta Falcons and Los Angeles Chargers, but ended up remaining unemployed.

By joining the Browns, Vrabel gets an opportunity to stay involved in the NFL while waiting for a new opportunity. Also, he gets to work with Cleveland’s defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz, who worked under him in Tennessee and will be close to his hometown of Akron, Ohio.
