Veteran tight end Delanie Walker has officially retired from professional football. Walker, who last played in 2019, announced his decision at a press conference organized by the Tennessee Titans.

Walker spent the last seven years of his pro career with the Titans and still holds several franchise records for the tight end position, including the most receiving touchdowns (28), most receptions in a single season (94), and most receiving yards in a season (1,088).

“When I came into this league, I wasn’t a big name, and I left this league with a big name, and that just shows I worked hard for this,” Walker said. “I worked hard to put myself on the map, and to prove to myself I was an elite player in this league.”

Delanie Walker entered the league as a sixth-round pick by the San Francisco 49ers in 2006. He spent seven years with the franchise but never put up eye-catching numbers in San Francisco.

Walker left the 49ers to join the Titans in 2013 and went on to enjoy a late career renaissance. This included three straight Pro Bowl appearances between 2015 and 2017.

“To be able to retire with the Titans means a lot because I feel like those were my best years,” Walker added. “I am honored to go out as a Titan.”
