The LA Galaxy addressed one of their biggest needs on Thursday by bringing in goalkeeper Jonathan Bond.

Bond signed with Galaxy on a free transfer after agreeing to an early contract termination with West Bromwich Albion. He made seven appearances with the Premier League side in the last three years.

Bond was immediately a favorite to be the club’s No. 1 choice between the posts for the upcoming season. The club also has the inexperienced Jonathan Klinsmann on their roster, while last year’s starter David Bingham isn’t expected to receive a new contract offer.

“Jonathan is a quality goalkeeper with experience playing at a high level,” said the team’s general manager Dennis te Kloese. “He is a talented player, and we believe he can make an impact with our team as we strengthen our goalkeeper position. We look forward to Jonathan joining the squad and his contributions this season.”

Jonathan Bond started his career with Watford, making 33 appearances with the club in all competitions between 2010 and 2015. He secured a transfer to Reading ahead of the 2014-15 season but only managed to make 14 appearances for the club before being sent on multiple loan spells in lower-tier clubs.

Bond joined WBA in 2018, serving as a backup and mostly playing in cup competitions.
