With a pair of promising seasons under his belt, Atlanta Falcons’ wide receiver Calvin Ridley now aims to make a step forward in 2020. According to Ridley, his goal for this season is to be “elite” and reach the 1,000 receiving yards mark for the first time in his career.

Ridley finished 2019 with 63 receptions for 866 yards and seven touchdowns. The 25-year-old WR achieved this in just 13 games, missing out the final stretch of the season with an abdominal injury.

The injury caused the 25-year-old player to miss out on getting to 1,000 yards, something he intends to do this year.

“I’m not going to lie, I’m real hungry to show people that I’m easily a 1,000-yard receiver, easily—and even better,” Ridley told Falcons’ official website in a recent interview. “I think that’s what it is for me. I’m always confident in myself, and I’m just really hungry and want to help the team win as much as I can.”

Ridley enters 2020 as Falcons’ No.2 wideout this year behind Pro Bowler Julio Jones, and he is convinced he will manage to get the most out of this opportunity.

“I should be elite this year,” he added.

Since entering the league as Atlanta’s first-round pick in 2018, Calvin Ridley racked up 127 receptions for 1,687 yards and 17 touchdowns. He holds the NFL record for receiving touchdowns by a rookie in his first four games (6) and Falcons’ record for receiving touchdowns in a season by a rookie (10).
