According to multiple sources, La Liga giants FC Barcelona have added several names to their list of potential replacements for current manager Ronald Koeman. These include the likes of former Juventus manager Andrea Pirlo and River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo.

Other coaches that are being considered are Barca club legend Xavi Hernandez, who currently manages Qatar Stars League club Al Sadd, and Belgium national team coach Roberto Martinez. Barca youth academy coach Albert Capellas is also a potential candidate should the need for an urgent replacement arise.

Earlier this week, club president Eduard Romeu confirmed that money would not be an issue when it comes to seeking out Koeman’s replacement. He did, however, warn of several considerations that had to be kept in mind when it comes to carrying out a coach’s dismissal so as not to contravene La Liga’s rules on salary caps.

La Liga announced on Wednesday that the Blaugranes would have a spending limit of €97.9 million for the 2021-22 season, while only 25% of the club’s transfer earnings could be spent on signing new players.

Because Koeman’s dismissal would be classed as an expense rather than a saving, the hunt to replace the Dutch coach would not be affected by the above rule.
