Basketball fans who hoped to see Indiana Fever’s sharpshooter Caitlin Clark take on an NBA player in the 2025 NBA All-Star Game 3-point challenge have received some bad news on Wednesday. Clark’s representatives at Excel Sports said in a statement that Clark won’t take part in the challenge.
According to Excel Sports, Clark wants her first three-point contest to be at the WNBA All-Star Game.
“Caitlin will not be at NBA All-Star,” the statement said. “She wants her first 3-point contest to be at WNBA All-Star in Indianapolis this summer.”
Clark was rumored to be one of the participants in a WNBA vs. NBA three-point challenge that saw its debut at the 2024 NBA All-Star weekend. Last year, New York Liberty’s Sabrina Ionescu and Golden State Warriors’ Stephen Curry went against each other in a single-round contest. Curry won the challenge with 29 points compared to Ionescu’s 26 points, while the event created significant buzz.
The NBA is expected to bring back this challenge in some form for the 2025 NBA All-Star weekend. Curry and Ionescu have been reportedly discussing a rematch while other NBA and WNBA stars could join in. Dallas Mavericks’ Klay Thompson is believed to be in the mix.
The 2025 NBA All-Star festivities are scheduled to take place between February 14 and February 16 at San Francisco’s Chase Center, the home of the Warriors.
