After Liverpool didn’t offer him a contract extension, forward Daniel Sturridge hit the free market this summer and there is no lack of interest for his services. According to The Times, the 29-year-old Englishman received contract offers from 13 clubs among which are several teams from Major League Soccer.

ESPN FC reports that among MLS teams that would like to land Sturridge are D.C. United and Philadelphia Union. D.C., who are looking for a replacement for departing Wayne Rooney, already made the first move and engaged in discussion with the player.

Reportedly, while D.C. is very interested in acquiring Sturridge, there is a slight hesitation on their side given the player’s well documented injury history. The talks between the two sides are still “ongoing” and more details should be available in the coming days.

The list of teams interested in Sturridge also includes Real Betis, Marseille, and Turkish powerhouse Fenerbahce.

Daniel Sturridge spent his entire career in Premier League, playing for Manchester City and Chelsea early in his career. Sturridge joined Liverpool in 2013, and has since made 160 appearances for the club and has managed to score 67 goals.

Sturridge was also part of England national team, being featured on rosters for 2014 World Cup and Euro 2016. He made 26 appearances with senior squad, scoring eight goals in the process.
