Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale is facing another lengthy spell on the sidelines. According to the team’s manager Jose Mourinho, Bale is dealing with a calf injury and will be sidelined “a few weeks”.

Bale returned to the Spurs in September, joining the club on a year-long loan spell from Real Madrid. The Welsh star striker was poised to play a big role in Tottenham’s return to the top of the Premier League, but the injuries prevented him from doing so.

Speaking with reporters ahead of Wednesday’s clash against Fulham, Mourinho confirmed that Bale is unable to play in that game and that he’ll miss several more upcoming matches.

“No, I don’t expect Gareth to be fit,” said Mourinho. “I wouldn’t say it’s a serious injury, but I would say a few weeks.”

Mourinho also added that he also might be without forwards Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius for the Fulham clash.

The unavailability of all three players is a tough blow for the Spurs as the club looks to end the four-game losing streak that dropped them to sixth place in the league.

Since joining Tottenham, Gareth Bale managed to play only 11 games in all competitions, including just six matches in Premier League. He has scored three goals so far.
