2019 NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo enjoyed a standout performance during his side’s final scrimmage before the regular season restart.

While the Milwaukee Bucks were ultimately defeated 124-103 by the New Orleans Pelicans, Antetokounmpo proved that fans have much to be excited about when the Greek national hits the court during the Bucks’ NBA clash against the Boston Celtics on Friday.

Giannis scored an impressive tally of 30 points, while bagging eight rebounds and three assists. Other notable performers for the Bucks included Khris Middleton who added 16 points, eight rebounds and four assists, as well as Ersan Ilyasova, who grabbed 12 points and 10 rebounds.

While Giannis was clearly the standout performer on the night, the Pelicans’ top performer happened to be shooting guard JJ Redick. The Tennessee native scored 20 points, shooting an impressive 4-of-7 from 3-point range. Jaxson Hayes contributed 17 points to the Pelicans’ tally, while Frank Jackson added 16 points.

While Giannis is expected to be a key component of the Bucks’ race to the Eastern Conference title- and, of course, a playoff spot- another interesting race that is heating up is the struggle between Giannis and the Lakers’ LeBron James for the title of this year’s MVP. Having already been crowned MVP last season, Antetokounmpo is statistically performing even better this season, thus leading this season’s NBA to an intriguing conclusion.
