After an incredible debut season in the NHL, Vegas Golden Knights are set on trying to do even better in 2018-19. This is why they decided to bring in a valuable reinforcement in Montreal Canadiens’ captain Max Pacioretty.

Golden Knights announced that they had acquired Pacioretty on Monday, sending Tomás Tatar, Nick Suzuki, and a 2019 second round draft pick in the opposite direction.

Since Max Pacioretty was entering the final season of a six-year deal, Golden Knights decided to take care of that issue as well by signing the 29-year old to a four-year contract extension worth around $28 million. This extension will keep Pacioretty in Vegas through the 2022-23 season.

“He can score goals, he’s a productive player, he brings speed, he brings some size and he fits our club,” – said Vegas general manager George McPhee said. “He fits the personality of this club. He’s a very good two-way player. He can play in a lot of different situations.”

Max Pacioretty was selected in the first round of 2007 NHL Entry Draft by Montreal Canadiens and went on to make his NHL debut two years. During the nine years he spent with the Canadiens, Pacioretty played in 626 career games, scoring 226 goals and adding 222 assists.
