Argentina star striker Gonzalo Higuain didn’t have the MLS debut he hoped for. Higuain not only witnessed his Inter Miami suffer a heavy 3-0 loss to Philadelphia Union on Sunday, but he also missed a penalty kick that could have possibly turned the game around.

Despite joining Miami just 10 days ago, Higuain started the game against Union and immediately made his presence felt. The 32-year-old striker was a constant threat to the opponent’s goal and even had an impressive overhead kick in the first half that ended up brushing the post.

The best chance for Higuain to make an immediate impact with his new club came in the 77th minute when he had the opportunity to score from a penalty kick after Union’s Kacper Przybylko handballed in his own box. The Argentinian veteran took the responsibility, but put too much power to the shot and sent the ball across the goal.

But Higuain didn’t stop producing headlines from his debut there. Immediately after failing to convert the PK, he confronted several of Philadelphia’s players, who joyfully celebrated the miss in front of him.

Gonzalo Higuain will have an opportunity to improve the impression on Saturday when Inter welcomes NYCFC in Miami.
