Chelsea manager Graham Potter was sacked by the club on Sunday following a 2-0 loss at home to Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday. This comes after Potter spent just seven months in charge of the club.

As a result of Saturday’s loss, Chelsea has now slipped into the bottom half of the Premier League table, sitting in 11th place with 38 points.

Since replacing Thomas Tuchel as manager in September, Potter lost 11 of his 31 games in charge in all competitions. While Chelsea has advanced to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals, the team is no longer in the running for the Premier League title and was eliminated in the early stages of both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

“On behalf of everyone at the club, we want to thank Graham sincerely for his contribution to Chelsea,” co-controlling owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali stated. “We have the highest degree of respect for Graham as a coach and as a person. He has always conducted himself with professionalism and integrity and we are all disappointed in this outcome.”

Bruno Saltor, who has been Potter’s assistant at both Brighton and Chelsea, is set to be the team’s interim coach until a new managerial appointment is made.
