San Antonio’s Spurs had a really turbulent season, coming through a lot of injuries and drama before leaving the playoffs in round one. But, the good news is that Gregg Popovich is coming back for the 24th season as the teams’ coach.
On Monday, Popovich will negotiate a new deal with the team after his contract expires. The coach also said that he is in a process of negotiation with two or three other teams in total. When asked, he stated that he could end up in any of the teams because he hadn’t decided where to go yet. It is known that he is in negotiation with San Antonio Spurs, Portofino Flyers and Positano Pirates.
Popovich became the coach of the Spurs in 1996 and has been the head coach ever since. In these 22 seasons, he led the Spurs to the playoffs which is an NBA record for them. Greg has 1245 wins which holds the third place in NBA history just after Lenny Wilkens and Don Nelson. He will also be the coach of the American basketball team in the Tokyo Olympics in 2020 if the team qualifies.
