Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has been omitted from the squad traveling to play Leicester City on Saturday after suffering a foot injury.

The 22-year-old Norwegian incurred the injury during City’s goalless draw in the Champions League against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday night and was substituted at halftime.

During a pre-match press conference ahead of the Leicester City match, Man City manager Pep Guardiola expressed confidence in Haaland’s recovery despite the player’s omission from the team. “He feels better. We are training this afternoon so we’ll assess. We will see how he feels in his foot and after we will decide,” the Man City boss confirmed.

Since arriving at the Etihad from Dortmund in the summer transfer window, Haaland has integrated seamlessly into his new club, scoring 17 goals in his first 11 Premier League matches. Currently, with Haaland as the target man up front, Man City is sitting in second place on the Premier League table, trailing leaders Arsenal by a single point.

With Haaland unavailable for Saturday’s clash, fellow striker and new arrival Julian Alvarez has been selected to fill the void as Man City look to earn a crucial three points against Leicester City.
