Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders is adding Hall of Fame defensive tackle Warren Sapp to his coaching staff. Sanders confirmed the news during his recent appearance on The Rich Eisen Show.

Sanders didn’t specify Sapp’s role on his staff. Tampa Bay Buccaneers legend already spent some time with the Buffaloes during the 2023 college football season, attending practice and games.

“He wants to coach on this staff, and he wants to be part of this staff, and he is going to be a part of this staff,” Sanders told host Rich Eisen. “He has so much to give, and I can’t wait to see him on a daily basis.”

Sapp played 13 seasons in the NFL with the Buccs and the Oakland Raiders. He was NFL Defensive Player of the Year in 1999 and earned seven Pro Bowl selections and four First-Team All-Pro nods during his playing career.

Since retiring after the 2007 NFL season, Sapp served as an analyst with NFL Network while also releasing the memoir Sapp Attack and appearing on several reality shows. He recently returned to college and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Sports Management degree earlier this year.

There is no doubt that having another Hall of Famer as their coach in Sapp will help the Buffaloes bounce back after a disappointing 2023 campaign. After winning their first three games, Colorado’s form dropped off dramatically, and they finished their season with a 4-8 record.
