Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young is expected to be fit to play in his team’s next match on Saturday despite incurring an eye injury during the Hawks’ 112-99 win over the New York Knicks on Wednesday.

“I think I’ll be able to play through it,” Young said after his team’s win, adding, “It’s more just letting the swelling go down. But I’ll be able to play through it.” The 24-year-old player added that, if necessary, he may resort to wearing goggles when he plays until the injury subsides.

During the second period of the Knicks’ game, Young jumped to contest a Julius Randle drive and appeared to be knocked in the face by Randle’s hand. Young stayed on the floor for several minutes before making his way off the court with a towel over his face.

Young later rejoined his teammates on the bench before rejoining the game in the fourth quarter whilst wearing protective eyewear despite struggling to see out his injured eye. He finished the game with 17 points, six rebounds, and six assists.
