Now that we’ve had a chance to see our favorite NBA teams play a handful of games, it’s time to take a step back and assess how everyone’s doing. A little over a month into the season, here’s how we’ve ranked the top five teams in the league.

5. Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics have an advantage in that you never know which of their players will have a breakout night. Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown are all stars in their own right, and so far they’ve managed to scrape out a solid 10-6 record.

4. Philadelphia 76ers

Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons seem to have a different spring in their step this season. They seem quite eager to prove themselves, and with new coach Doc Rivers at the helm, we’re not surprised they’re leading the Eastern Conference.

3. Utah Jazz

The Utah Jazz have been steady over the last few seasons, with talented youngster Donovan Mitchell and defensive big man Rudy Gobert leading the way. At second place in the Western Conference, will this be the year they take the next step?

2. Los Angeles Clippers

Experts picked the Clippers to win it all last season, and they ended up getting ousted in the second round. But Kawhi Leonard and Paul George have bounced back strongly, posting a 13-5 record and proving that they still belong in title contention.

1. Los Angeles Lakers

The Lakers haven’t really slowed down since winning the 2020 NBA title back in October. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are looking better than ever, and their band of role players are having incredible seasons as well. Oh yeah, and they currently hold the best record in the league.
