Inter Miami are close to landing another Juventus star in just a few weeks. After signing French midfielder Blaise Matuidi, Inter is reportedly close to bringing in Argentine striker Gonzalo Higuain as well.

Higuain is currently out of favor at Juventus, with the club’s new manager Andrea Pirlo telling him he is not needed at the club. In order to thank him for his services over the years, the Seria A side is willing to let him walk away for a minor transfer fee.

While several clubs reportedly expressed interest in Higuain, Miami is currently the favorite to land the 32-year-old player. According to ESPN, the two sides are close to reaching a contract agreement and could soon make the move official.

Gonzalo Higuain would come to MLS with rich playing experience in Europe. He played with Real Madrid, Napoli, and Juve, among other teams, and managed to score plenty with each club. Higuain was especially prolific in Napoli, where he racked up 91 goals in just 146 games.

Higuain was also efficient early on with Juve, but he lost his touch in recent seasons. In 2019/20, he managed to get only 11 goals in 43 matches.

If he chooses the United States as his next destination, Higuain will join his brother Federico Higuain. Federico plays in MLS since 2012 and is currently at DC United.
