With the new MLS season scheduled to kick off on July 9th, the MLS’s latest expansion team, Inter Miami CF, has been looking for ways to keep their players occupied while waiting for the end of COVID 19. Their solution has been to participate in friendly matches on the EA SPORTS FIFA 20 video game.

Saturday saw Inter Miami play its second international eFriendly match, with Argentinian forward Julián Carranza representing the club against Everton and Brazilian National Team star Richarlison. The clash was streamed worldwide via both clubs’ digital and social media channels, as well as the official Inter Miami CF mobile app.

This match consisted of three legs, with Carranza’s France defeating Richarlison’s Belgium by a scoreline of 3-1 in their first clash. The second clash saw Carranza hit his stride with Juventus, while Richarlison used his real-life club, Everton. Having established a 2-0 lead going into half time, Carranza scored three more goals to end the game with a resounding 5-0 victory. Interestingly, Carranza scored all of his goals with Ronaldo.

The third and final clash featured the fierce rivalry between Argentina and Brazil, with each player representing their home countries. The tightest of the three games, the score remained deadlocked until the 83rd minute, when Richarlison scored the winner, thereby earning him his sole victory. Unfortunately, for him, it was too little too late as Carranza walked away with an 8-2 victory on aggregate.
