Inter Miami finally have their big-name signing from Europe. According to ESPNFC, Inter agreed to a deal with Juventus’ midfielder Blaise Matuidi.

Matuidi will join Inter Miami on a free transfer, as the player agreed to mutually terminate his contract with Juve. The move will be finalized after the 33-year-old player passes his physical. He is expected to commit to a three-year contract to play in MLS.

Inter Miami has been searching for a high-profile addition for their inaugural season for some time now. A number of European stars were linked with the club, including Barcelona’s Luis Suarez and Manchester City’s David Silva, but neither of these rumors proved to be true.

While Blaise Matuidi doesn’t bring the same star power as Miami’s previously reported targets, there is no doubt that he represents the right move from the soccer standpoint. Matuidi is capable of being the link between defense and attack and is known for great reliability. Also, wherever he played, he quickly became a fan favorite due to his impressive work ethic.

Matuidi played with Troyes and Saint-Étienne early in his career, before embarking on successful stints with Paris Saint-Germain and Juve. He won 21 trophies on the club level, including four Ligue 1 titles and three Seria A titles.

Matuidi was also France international between 2010 and 2019 and was part of the World Cup-winning squad in 2018.
