Inter Miami Shocks Orlando in Latest Round of MLS Action

Following the conclusion of the MLS is Back tournament, the MLS regular season is back in full swing. The latest round of action saw eight teams take to the pitch last night.

In what was probably the biggest upset of the night, MLS newcomers Inter Miami defeated MLS is Back runners up Orlando City 3-2. The underdogs opened the scoring in the 12th minute, with Julian Carranza slotting home a left-footed strike.

While Orlando City leveled the scoring just six minutes later through a Daryl Dike strike, Inter restored their lead in the 23rd minute as Carranza headed home his second goal of the evening.

Three minutes into first-half injury time, Rodolfo Pizzaro scored to hand Inter a comfortable two-goal lead. While Nani was able to pull a goal back Orlando in the 80th minute, his header proved too little too late as the hosts secured their first-ever league MLS league victory.

Other games on the night included the heated local derby between LAFC and LA Galaxy. The game, which took place at an empty Banc of California Stadium, saw the hosts get silenced 2-0 by the visiting Galaxy. Atlanta United defeated new MLS arrivals Nashville SC 2-0 while Real Salt Lake thumped Colorado Rapids 4-1.
