Inter Miami is working hard on assembling a strong roster ahead of their inaugural MLS season in 2020. While pursuing several established stars from Europe, Miami is also paying attention to U.S. players and will reportedly target USMNT newcomer Tyler Boyd.
The Athletic’s Paul Tenorio reports that Inter began pursuing Boyd in recent weeks and hold his MLS discovery rights. This will allow them to be the first MLS team to attempt to sign the 24-year-old attacker.
After previously representing New Zealand on the international level, Tyler Boyd decided to switch his allegiance to the U.S. as he holds dual citizenship. He played four games for USMNT so far and managed to score two goals so far.
Boyd started his professional career in New Zealand, before making a switch to Portugal where he signed with Vitória de Guimarães. He never managed to break into the first team and had several loan stints with the latest one being with Turkish side Ankaragücü. He played 14 games in Turkey and managed to score six goals last season.
Besides Boyd, Inter Miami is reportedly also targeting highly-rated Argentinian winger Matias Pellegrini. According to TyC Sports, Pellegrini, who plays with Estudiantes, is a subject of a $10 million bid from Inter.
