The Europa League quarter final stages got off to a flying start last night, with two intriguing matches taking place.

The first game of the night saw Serie A giants Inter Milan take on Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen. Inter came into the match fresh off an impressive 2-0 victory over La Liga side Getafe in what was their only leg of the clash due to the COVID-19 shutdown. Leverkusen, on the other hand, defeated Scottish giants Ranger 1-0, thereby winning 4-1 on aggregate.

The game got off to a quick start, with Inter opening the scoring through a Nicolo Barella strike in the 15th minute. Just six minutes later, Romelu Lukaku doubled the home team’s lead. In the 24th minute, Kai Havertz pulled one back for Leverkusen, however, the German team was unable to find the back of the net for the remainder of the game. 2-1 was the final scoreline.

Following their 7-1 drubbing of LASK on aggregate, Premier League giants Manchester United hosted Danish team FC Copenhagen. Despite getting 26 shots on goal, the Red Devils were unable to rattle the visitors. Ultimately, it took a 95th minute Bruno Fernandez penalty for Man Utd to grab the only goal of the game.
