After Sunday’s blowout loss to the Chicago Bears, the Jacksonville Jaguars have officially secured the first pick in next year’s NFL Draft.

Starting the season off with a win, the Jaguars haven’t won a game since, dropping 14 straight over the course of a tough season in which the team used three different quarterbacks.

The team will almost certainly use the top pick in next year’s draft to secure their quarterback of the future. The consensus top pick in next year’s draft is Trevor Lawrence, a true junior from Clemson and someone most scouts believe is a can’t-miss prospect and the best quarterback prospect that has come out of college since the Indianapolis Colts drafted Andrew Luck in 2012.

The Jaguars got help to secure the pick on Sunday from the New York Jets, who started the season off with 13 straight losses but have now won two games straight.

Now that it’s almost certain that the Jets have officially missed out on the Lawrence sweepstakes, it will be interesting to see what the team will do with the No. 2 pick.

The Jets could look to other top quarterback prospects such as Justin Fields from Ohio State or BYU prospect Zach Wilson. Or they could choose to build around their current quarterback, Sam Darnold, who is playing in his third season and is still only 23 years old.
